Can I own a dog in Shenzhen?

Both foreigners and Chinese are welcome to own dogs in Shenzhen, although the city has placed restrictions on the available breeds.

There are 27 breeds of dogs that are identified as ‘violent’ and cannot be raised in the urban areas of Shenzhen, including residential areas, business areas and industrial areas. Each Shenzhen family is allowed to raise up to two dogs.
