What kind of electrical sockets or outlets does the Chinese mainland use?
Electricity on the Chinese mainland is run on a voltage of 220V, 50Hz, AC. Hong Kong is 220V, while Taiwan is 110V.
As seen in the photos below, both two-pin and three-pin plugs and sockets are used in China. Wall sockets and extension sockets are usually designed to fit both two-pin and three-pin plugs.
Depending on the voltage used in your own country, you may need to buy a converter for any appliances you plan to bring from home. It’s best to buy a converter at home, though in most large Chinese cities you’ll be able to find these in electronics stores and markets.
